Berlin Hyp’s consistent focus on being a green financier is underpinned, among other things, by the introduction of environmental management in accordance with EMAS. The annual validation according to this most demanding European standard as well as according to the international standard for environmental management systems DIN EN ISO 14001 has been taking place since 2016, and safeguards the continuous further development and improvement of our environmental performance.
Berlin Hyp wants to keep the negative ecological effects of its business operations as low as is reasonable for a company in the financial sector. For this purpose, it formulated and published its environmental policy for the first time in 2014. This guideline applies to both operational and product ecology. The environmental policy is reviewed annually by the management and has been further developed since the introduction of our environmental management system.
All employees were made aware of this through various publications on the intranet and during the annual training on the environmental management system, and thus share a firm commitment to these principles.
All environmental impacts of our business activities are determined from the context of the company, regularly reviewed and evaluated.
The continuation of the environmental programme with the embedding of all environmental objectives derived from it is a dynamic process and our aim is to continuously improve our environmental performance. New measures are introduced every year. Since the introduction of the environmental management system, 41 measures have successfully been completed.
Berlin Hyp’s EMAS environmental management also contributes to the implementation of certain United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). For more information, please refer to the annual summary and reporting on all key facts, figures and successes of the environmental management system in our Environmental Statement.
