Inspiring prospects

During your studies, you’ve probably thought about what type of career you’d like to pursue and have maybe even made some plans in this regard. Why not put your ideas into practice at a company that gives you the freedom and opportunities you need to lay the foundation for your future career and continuously build upon that foundation. Welcome to Berlin Hyp!

Our trainee programme:
The starting point for your career

Our customised trainee programme prepares you in just 12 months for the challenges that you will face in the various business areas covered by a leading real estate bank. Our programme introduces you to the divisions, departments and units at our Bank and gives you the knowledge and skills you need to be successful in the position you’re being trained to fill.

Together with you, we decide when you will begin your trainee programme, and you’ll also have plenty of time in the first few weeks to acclimate yourself and get to know the company.
We assign an experienced colleague to support each trainee by answering questions or offering assistance with career planning. This colleague will also help you structure your programme and will be available to discuss the feedback you receive from the department or unit you’re working in.

“The phases in which you accompany colleagues on the job are especially useful in gaining a comprehensive overview of the Bank and its operations.”

“The Berlin Hyp trainee programme is varied and challenging and offers numerous career opportunities. The phases in which you accompany colleagues on the job are especially useful in terms of learning about the various interfaces between departments and gaining a comprehensive overview of the Bank and its operations. You also get to know a lot of new colleagues, and these relationships promote communication and networking between the Bank’s organisational units. It’s basically a great programme for young professionals who are starting their careers.”

Dual study:
The perfect combination

The dual study programme at Berlin Hyp offers you the best of both worlds: You’ll alternate every three months between work at the Bank and a course of study at the Berlin School of Economics and Law. This means you’ll be able to apply everything you learn in school to your job at the Bank. In order to ensure that you’re truly prepared for all challenges, we supplement your course of study with internal seminars that expand your specialised knowledge and also improve your personal and methodological skills.

Your first day of work at the Bank will be 1 September and you’ll begin your course of study on 1 October.

Are you interested in taking advantage of this outstanding opportunity for a successful career?

Then you’ll need to

  • have a secondary school graduation certificate (Abitur/Fachabitur) with a grade of “A” or “B”,
  • be interested in finance and the real estate sector,
  • be able to understand economic and business relationships,
  • be dedicated, independent, open and able to work well in a team.

Structured yet flexible.

“I decided to work for Berlin Hyp because I’m very interested in sustainability and related issues and Berlin Hyp is a pioneer in this area. The open and modern attitude that I noticed among my colleagues only confirmed the first impression I had of the Bank, which is why I’m happy that I chose to participate in the dual study programme – even though it can be pretty challenging at times. During the practical phases of the programme I have the opportunity to accompany colleagues on the job in every department, which means I learn a lot, especially about how things actually work at a real estate financier. The practical phases also allow me to establish networks with colleagues throughout the Bank. I also like the fact that my colleagues are there to support me with their knowledge and experience when I’m given challenging tasks to complete.”

Jobs for student employees: Inspiration and stepping stone

Use your job to lay the foundation for your future! We’re looking for dedicated employees for all areas of our company. You can expand your knowledge in your specific subject area by working for us and also learn to work independently in an organisation that gives you the space to do so. You will be paid on the basis of the collective agreement for the banking sector in Germany, and if we feel that you’d be a good fit for us, we can put you on track for an entry-level position – for example as a trainee – at the Bank.

“If you want to develop successfully, you must have the opportunity to apply your theoretical knowledge in daily work practice.”

“I was always interested in finance, even before I started studying business administration. That’s why I decided to train in the banking sector. During my studies, I discovered that I had a passion for marketing, communication and innovation management, and that’s why I’m happy that I can apply the things I’ve learned through my studies to the tasks I need to perform for my job at Berlin Hyp. I’ve been given many varied and challenging assignments at the Bank – for example I was responsible for putting together guest articles and commentary and I’ve also worked on the production of podcasts. It’s easy to learn a lot here, especially because my more experienced colleagues are always there to assist me if I need them.”

Internships: Join us and learn about our business

We offer a range of internship options in all of our departments and units for anyone who is still unsure about the type of career they wish to pursue. Students can also use a Bank internship to meet the internship requirement for their course of study. High school graduates can choose to conduct a voluntary internship either before or after their studies. When you conduct an internship at Berlin Hyp, you’ll learn what it means to help shape the transformation of an entire industry. You can basically start at any time, and we will then decide together how long the internship will run. You might be interested in knowing that several specialists and managers in important positions at the Bank started their careers as interns at Berlin Hyp.

We look forward to receiving your application!

“I’m part of the team.”

“The real estate industry is currently in the middle of a transformation process. My job in the Corporate Strategy division is to help shape this transformation on the front line, so to speak. As a result, I need to address new challenges every day. For example, I had to serve as the interim managing director of our OnSite ImmoAgent subsidiary and I was also involved in the development of new business approaches. In order to successfully complete assignments like that, I need to monitor the market and analyse and assess digitalisation solutions. This is important because there’s a lot of expertise outside of the Bank, and some ideas develop more quickly in non-banking sectors. I pay particularly close attention to digital innovations relating to ESG. Our investments in other companies allow us to establish close strategic relationships that facilitate the transfer of knowledge and also ensure that we can participate in the development of ESG innovations, and then benefit from these. I especially appreciate the freedom I have in my job – in terms of both the topics I choose to focus on and the way I go about my work.”
